Need Teachers’ Day Gifts? Singapore Students, Look Here!

Many of us remember at least one teacher who has made a huge impact in our lives. Whether it was from our earliest years, even before primary, or from our uni days, teachers are often a profound influence on the way each of us turns out as a person.

After our parents, God gave teachers the responsibility of seeing to it that we become good people — not just knowledgeable, but wise. Teaching students the right way to use what they have learned in the service of the Lord is what the best teachers do, as "he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:19).

When Is Teachers' Day This Year?

So with a day set aside on our calendar for our mothers and fathers, it stands to reason to set aside one day for our beloved educators. And in 2025, the Ministry of Education (MOE) right here in Singapore has earmarked 5th September for our annual Teachers' Day celebrations.

Why Is Teachers' Day Observed in Singapore?

Teachers' Day in Singapore is particularly special because of the focus on the part played by teachers in developing the nation. Everyone, from our country's CEOs to the everyday person on the street, would not be able to pursue their careers, regardless of their profession, without teachers as a main source of their training and knowledge.

That's why MOE has declared Teachers' Day as a school holiday, and why we express our gratitude, appreciation, and love for teachers in the form of a token or Teacher's Day gift.

What Are Some Brilliant Gift Ideas for Teachers?

At this point, you've probably already given all the tote bags, pens, mugs, notebooks, and tumblers you can find as gifts for your teachers. And while we're sure your teachers love you for it, here are some gift items you can find right here on our website that say "Happy Teachers' Day" like nothing else can.

Dried Pressed Flowers

While a flower bouquet is traditional, the pressed flowers in our delicately crafted wall and desktop decor will last a lifetime. These framed Bible quotations are perfect for your teacher's home or office, to serve as inspiration or reminders that they're not alone in their great work of shaping young minds. "I can do all things through Christ" and "Rejoicing in Hope" are just two of many of these teacher-perfect presents.

Small Wood Boards

If you feel awkward about giving flowers as a Teachers' Day gift, our small wood boards made out of fragrant pine make tasteful, portable gifts — perfect for multiple teachers (if you're giving gifts to teachers in all your classes). A simple "grateful" or "thankful" on a board, which your teacher can display on their desk or door, says it all and makes an excellent reminder.

Coasters

If you've already gifted your teacher with a mug (or they have a favorite one you've observed on their desk), our coasters just might be the perfect follow-up present for Teacher's Day. Your teacher will love the inspirational quote they'll see when they lift their mugs to their lips, with "Be still and know" and "Stand on solid ground" particularly suited to their profession.

Crosses and Mini Crosses

Let's be real: teaching is not easy, and there are many challenges a teacher in any class has to overcome. While most of us will never get a taste of what it's really like to teach, all of us can appreciate a teacher's dedication and sacrifice as shown in their everyday actions. Giving your teacher a beautiful, hand-painted cross as an image of the sacrifice made by the ultimate Teacher can strengthen and inspire them, especially when answering tough questions or preparing for a new term.

Phone Stands

If you want to give a particularly practical teacher's day gift that won't join the heap of presents in the classroom corner, consider giving a unique and delicately crafted phone stand. Bound to be a real desktop (or bedside tabletop) sparkler, our phone stands feature thoughtfully selected Bible quotes, with two from Galatians and Deuteronomy chosen specifically for teachers. "Be strong and courageous" or "My grace is sufficient for you" may also be an especially appropriate option for teachers.

DIY Gift Boxes

For that one special teacher who has been more like a mentor or a friend to you, whom you really want to go the extra mile for, you may want to put together a curated collection of treats. While cookies and wellness products such as hand creams are popular choices, you could try choosing gifts that have a special significance for your teacher or for you both.

Like what about a copy of a book you both enjoyed working on, or your teacher's favorite snacks. If your teacher likes a certain color or animal, for instance, you might include themed items in your gift box. Or, you might include gifts related to the teacher's subject; a music teacher, for instance, might like a small gift decorated with musical notes. Then you can explain your collection of small gifts in the card that comes with the box, making it that much more personalized.

How Can We Make Our Teachers' Day Gifts More Special?

Having mentioned personalized gifts, customization can give your teachers' day gifts that extra personal touch. Apart from your teacher's name, you can add dates or your own choice of a Bible verse that has a special meaning for your teacher, both of you, or your whole class.

How Do We Celebrate Teachers' Day?

Teachers' Day gifts are definitely not the only way we observe this special holiday in Singapore. We also decorate our classrooms, write heartfelt letters, or shoot videos to express our thanks for all their hard work. In many schools, Teachers' Day is also a formal event where teachers are feted and recognized for their efforts and students often perform on stage.

When Did We Start Celebrating Teachers' Day?

And in case you were wondering when we, as a nation, began to give Teachers' Day gifts on a dedicated teacher's day, it all started with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. UNESCO instituted Teachers' Day in 1994 with the promulgation of the "Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers", which marked the first official instance of global awareness for the duties and prerogatives of educators.

Did You Know Teacher’s Day Is Celebrated Around the World?

While Singapore celebrates Teachers' Day on 5th September in 2025, countries around the world celebrate it on different dates. The World Teacher's Day instituted by UNESCO itself is celebrated on 5th October.

Do You Have To Wait for Teachers' Day?

Teachers' Day comes just once a year, but our teachers are there to guide and help us every day of every term — and sometimes, even beyond. If you have a teacher who means that much to you, don't wait for a special occasion. Sometimes, the best teacher's day gift is the one given when least expected, and the day a teacher can look into their students' eyes and recognize the fruit of their labors, is truly the best Teachers' Day.
