BlessedBe started with our founder, Yen, going to college in the States at nineteen years old. She came from a humble middle income family in Vietnam. Her parents had nothing much but a little saving and two precious daughters. Yen’s elder sister was a graduating doctor doing her internship in France. With the help of their elder daughter, her parents gathered all their savings to send their little girl overseas for a better education.
First time away from home, Yen was like a “bird out of the cage” with no parental supervision. Sports car, college parties, pole dancing, occasional drugs – these became her new lifestyle. Smart and diligent, Yen bought her first car at nineteen years old and her first house at twenty-two while paying her own way through college. She was working four jobs and going to school full-time (Gosh! Did she even sleep?) Yen was hard working and the wind of success seemed to be in her favor. Her future read ” Bright! “. YET, everything came crashing down when she developed a serious stomach ulcer from overworking and a bad relationship with her then boyfriend. In the middle of all that mess, she found Jesus and God was what she could hang on to. Not her success nor the five-digit income she was earning as a student, not her beauty nor her sense of fashion and style, not her affectionate smile and the favor she seemed to be getting everywhere she went: It was only In Christ alone.
The Lord held Yen together and rescued her from deep desperation and dark depression. (To be continued)
